It is a fact. The majority of people who start a fitness workout program give it up after just a few weeks. Why? Think about it. Our lifestyles are geared towards instant success. We want things now, not later. We live in the world of 3G networks and microwaves. Getting fit takes time and energy, and most of all, commitment. The secret to any good fitness workout program is one thing – it is staying motivated. So how can you stay motivated when so many other people can’t? The top fitness gurus and personal trainers have shared their secrets with me. Here they are –
First, set a long term goal. It must be something you can physically see happening. losing 25 pounds, or getting tight six pack abs, or be able to run three miles, or be able to fit into your bathing suit again and not be totally embarrassed. Whatever floats your boat, write it down and post it where you can see it every day. Use a computerized goal setter program if you can.

Next, divvy that goal into smaller, short term goals. There is an old saying: to eat an elephant you must take one bite at a time. If you want to lose 25 pounds, allow yourself three months. If you want to be able to run three miles, start with running a quarter mile, then slowly increase it. Seeing yourself achieve these little goals which are moving you closer to the big goal will keep you positive.
